Permissions Setup
This page maps each permission to its exact behavior.
What you need and why
- Accessibility Required for: Hover Lookup, Selection Popup, Quick Translate.
- Screen Recording for Hover Lookup Required for: hover-based capture path.
- Screen Recording for OCR Required for: OCR screenshot lookup path.
- Input Monitoring Required only when Require Option key for Hover is enabled.

Recommended enable order
- Enable Accessibility.
- Enable Screen Recording.
- Enable Input Monitoring only if your hover mode requires Option key.
- Reopen Dictionary and run one lookup + one OCR action to confirm.
If a feature still does not work
- Confirm status in Dictionary Permissions settings: Accessibility, Screen Recording for Hover Lookup, Screen Recording for OCR, Input Monitoring.
- Turn the target permission off and on again in macOS Settings.
- Restart Dictionary and retry the same action.
