Live Captions
The main value of live captions is not that a transcript exists later. The main value is that you can keep up while the conversation is still happening.
What live captions are for
- Catching key lines in fast meetings
- Following a speaker while you are also taking notes
- Monitoring app or system audio without replaying it repeatedly
Good operating rule
Treat live captions as a reading layer for the current moment.
If you only look at the output after the session, you are using the product like a recorder with extra steps.
What to check during a session
- Is the text readable enough to follow the conversation?
- Are the right sources feeding the caption stream?
- Is the current session accumulating enough output to become useful later?
After the session
A good live caption session should leave behind material you can still:
- review,
- revise,
- export,
- and search by time later.
