Record Your Screen and Find the Saved Video

Choose the recorder for your device, select the picture and sound, then stop and reopen the saved video. Check its beginning, middle and end before sharing.

Windows 11

Use Snipping Tool to record a selected area and save the clip. Open Record → New, or press Win+Shift+R, select the area, then Start → Stop → Save. Choose the available microphone or system-audio controls for the sound you need. Keep the saved file in a named folder.

Mac

Press Cmd+Shift+5, select the recording area, and use Options to choose a microphone and save location. Start recording and stop from the menu bar. Apple lists window recording for macOS 26 or later and system-audio recording for macOS 27 or later; microphone sound is a separate choice.

iPhone and iPad

Start Screen Recording in Control Center and wait for the countdown. To add your voice, press and hold the recording control and turn on Microphone. Stop recording and open Photos to find the video. Some apps restrict recording; use content that permits capture. With Face ID, open Control Center from the top-right; with a Home button, swipe up from the bottom. If the recording control is missing, edit Control Center with Add → Add a Control and select Screen Recording. Exit Control Center while recording and use its red recording control to stop.

Android and Pixel

On supported Android devices, swipe down twice and choose Screen recorder. Add it with Edit if it is absent. Choose sound and touch display, start, then stop from the recording notification. On Pixel, look in Photos → Collections → On this device → Movies. Some steps require Android 11 or later.

Check the actual file

Reopen the saved video in a player and check the intended picture and audio at three points. If the picture is wrong, select the window or area again. For silence, decide whether you need microphone sound or device playback, then select that input in the recorder and make a short new clip. Recording a video and displaying live captions are separate operations.
